WELCOME TO ACTMP3 IN BANGKOK, THAILAND

Dear Colleague,

It is a great pleasure to invite you to attend the 3rd ASEAN Congress of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology (ACTMP3) at the Windsor Suites Hotel, 8 Sukhumvit 18-20, Bangkok, Thailand. The theme of the Congress is “Parasites: a hidden threat to global health”.

The Parasitology and Tropical Medicine Association of Thailand is extremely proud to host this regional conference. It is our sincere belief that the synergy of our dedicated Thai parasitological Association and the vibrant venue of Bangkok for this important international meeting will make your attendance both informative and enjoyable.

Parasitic infections used to be considered health problems restricted to endemic areas. With globalization, the movement of people has increased and health problems are decreasingly limited to single countries, and have taken on a global dimension, becoming of greater general interest. The growth in international trade in food from animals--the hosts of parasites--may introduce infections to previously non-endemic areas. These infection are considered emerging diseases that cause health problems in the countries concerned, in terms of diagnosis and treatment.

The Congress will discuss the main aspects of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology, particularly parasitic diseases affecting communities in Southeast Asia, as well as tourists traveling in Southeast Asia and beyond.
